This variety is not affected by spring frosts thanks to its late flowering feature and provides safe production. It produces high-yielding, quality and delicious fruits.
Climate and Soil Requirements
Monterey almond sapling gives successful results in cold climate regions. It is resistant to spring frosts thanks to its late flowering feature. It can withstand up to -18°C. In terms of soil requirements, it prefers deep, well-drained, calcareous soils. It shows the best development in soils with pH value between 7.0-8.5.
Planting and Care
The most suitable time for planting Monterey almond sapling is autumn and early spring months. Planting distance is recommended as 6x6 meters or 7x7 meters. The planting hole should be opened at least 50x50x50 cm in size. Regular irrigation and fertilization should be done. Pruning should be done in winter months.
Harvest and Yield
