This variety is an excellent option for producers who want to establish orchards in limited areas. Thanks to its compact structure, it takes up less space and is easy to maintain.
Climate and Soil Requirements
Fernette walnut sapling gives successful results in temperate climate conditions. Its cold resistance is at good level and can withstand up to -18°C. In terms of soil requirements, it prefers deep, well-drained, organically rich soils. It shows the best development in soils with pH value between 6.5-7.5.
Planting and Care
The most suitable time for planting Fernette walnut sapling is autumn and early spring months. Thanks to its compact structure, planting distance is recommended as 7x7 meters or 8x8 meters. The planting hole should be opened at least 60x60x60 cm in size. Regular irrigation and fertilization should be done. Pruning should be done to preserve the compact structure.
